Among his many cultural activities, Ritish Chakravarty has made a niche for his favourite occupation or hobby. He is the editor of the Bengali cultural magazine ‘Ra Patrika’. He is also the editor-in-chief of Surnandan, an English journal of art and culture. He is the all India Secretary of Music, Dance, Painting Examination Board ‘Surnandan Bharatf. His principal and favourite occupation is composing poetry and writing essays on different subjects. His compositions mainly centres around music – both vocal and instrumental and dance. He was the Editor-in-charge of the art and music page Lalitkala of ‘Satyajug’ daily. He is the author of the popular serials ‘the ever bright star in the firmament (sky) of music’ and ‘The Dance offerings of Nataraj’. He was also engaged in composing songs for ‘Manorama’ magazine. So far he has composed above 200 songs in Bengali, Hindi and English. Forty six of his books have been published. He is one of the contributors (writers) in the book ‘Allauddin Khan : his life’s vision and art’. Innumerable contributions by him have been published in dailies of different states. He was the regular contributor of Daily of Tripura and Navhind Times of Goa. He has been honoured by International Biographical centre, Cambridge(U.K) as among 2000 outstanding intellectuals of the 21st century. He was also honoured by Twentieth century Achievement for recognition in cultural sphere. He is the Sahapratiritwik of Satsang, Deochar.
